My heartfelt thanks to Editor Alison Williams for selecting my contemporary tanka, which blends natural imagery with philosophical reflections on transience and inevitability, for the second issue of her exceptional journal, Quail Eggs.

I’d also like to express my gratitude to Alison for creating and publishing Quail Eggs to begin with since there are so few publications dedicated solely to tanka. Her journal is one I will regularly read and plan to contribute to again in the future.
