Petals of Haiku: An Anthology

calm woodlands cradle
delights of muted snowfalls
exquisite silence
frosty maple leaves
crackle in whispering winds
sun-kissed harmonies
poignant red roses
remembrance of all that's lost
before the next bloom
schemes of naive youth
come undone through jaded years
time hastens anguish

I have a special place in my heart for Gabriela Marie Milton. When I returned to writing haiku, she was the first to encourage me to consider submitting my haiku for publication. That had always been a long-term goal I planned to pursue, but I felt like I needed more time to feel ready. I decided to take a shot, with the result being the first haiku I submitted anywhere appearing in the pages of Petals of Haiku: An Anthology.

Who but a friend would selflessly encourage someone to pursue goals and better themselves? I am delighted and honored to be included in this anthology with my peers.
