Haiku Traditions

I am thrilled to announce that I am just one week away from becoming a published author. My first book, Haiku Traditions, goes on sale in paperback and ebook versions on August 1. This has been a significant goal on my bucket list for over forty years, returning to my high school creative writing class days. 

My goal has been to both write the book and produce it. I wanted to familiarize myself with every aspect—writing, editing, formatting, design, copyrighting, licensing, incorporating, marketing and distribution. I’ve invested some money and many months of work, but I enjoyed every step of the journey and added much to my skillset. I’m happy with the finished product.

I did my homework before diving into the work. I bought many poetry books, studied design and content, and paid attention to what I liked and didn’t like about each book.

I produced Haiku Traditions using the amazing Adobe InDesign, the king of publishing programs, and Atticus for the ebook version. I can confidently say that my book’s content and design are on par with any other paperback out there. I don’t know of another book with haiku, senryu, tanka and haibun under one cover.

While producing the book was my goal, selling it is the icing on the cake, so I do hope it does well. I am utilizing three distribution channels supplying dozens of online and brick-and-mortar retailers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Kobo, etc.) in at least 30 countries. Seeing my book popping up on retail sites in Europe, Asia, South America, India, Australia, and even China is a bit surreal.
